What is Dorzolamide; Timolol eye solution (Cosopt™)?
DORZOLAMIDE; TIMOLOL (Cosopt™) helps to reduce pressure in the eye for patients with increased pressure or open-angle glaucoma. Generic (Cosopt™) eye solution is not yet available.

What should my health care professional know before I use Dorzolamide; Timolol (Cosopt™)?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
•asthma, bronchitis or bronchospasm, emphysema, or other lung disease
•closed-angle glaucoma
•diabetes
•eye infection or damage
•heart or blood vessel disease
•kidney or liver disease
•thyroid disease
•wear contact lenses
•an unusual or allergic reaction to dorzolamide, acetazolamide, sulfonamides, timolol, other beta-blockers, medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
•pregnant or trying to get pregnant
•breast-feeding

How should I use this medicine (Cosopt™)?
Dorzolamide; timolol (Cosopt™) eye solution is only for use in the eye. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash hands before and after use. Tilt the head back slightly and pull down the lower lid with the index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper to your eye or any other surface. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pouch. Close the eye gently; do not blink, and apply gentle finger pressure to the inner corner of the eye (tear duct) for 1—2 minutes. Use your doses at regular intervals. Do not use your medicine more often than directed. If you use other topically applied ophthalmic medications, they should be used at least 10 minutes before or after dorzolamide; timolol (Cosopt™).  This medicine is not for use in children < 2 years old.

What if I miss a dose (Cosopt™)?
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

What drug(s) may interact with Dorzolamide; Timolol (Cosopt™)?
Do not use other eye products with dorzolamide; timolol (Cosopt™) without asking your doctor or health care professional.  Tell your doctor or health care professional: about all other medicines you are taking or using, including non-prescription medicines; if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol; if you smoke; or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

What side effects may I notice from using Dorzolamide; Timolol (Cosopt™)?
Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
•blurred vision
•difficulty breathing, wheezing
•dizziness or fainting spells
•inflamed or infected eyes or eyelids
•irregular heartbeat, palpitations, chest pain
•redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
•slow heart rate (less than 50 beats per minute)
•skin rash
•unusual tiredness or weakness
•vomiting

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):

What should I watch for while taking Dorzolamide; Timolol (Cosopt™)?
Visit your doctor or health care professional for regular checks on your progress. Report any serious side effects promptly. Stop using this solution if your eyes get inflamed, painful, or have a discharge, and see your doctor or health care professional as soon as you can. Ask your doctor or health care professional if you should continue to use Cosopt™ if you injure your eyes, get an eye infection, or need eye surgery.

You may get dizzy while using this medicine. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that requires mental alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. To reduce the risk of dizzy or fainting spells, do not sit or stand up quickly. Alcohol can make you more drowsy, and increase flushing and rapid heartbeats. Therefore, it is best to avoid alcoholic drinks.

Be careful not to touch the tip of the dispensing container onto the eye, or any other surface. Serious eye infections can result from contamination of eye solutions.  If you are using another eye preparation, there should be an interval of at least ten minutes between use of Cosopt™ and the other eye preparation.  Wear dark glasses if this eye drop makes your eyes more sensitive to light.
If you wear soft contact lenses, you should not put these eye drops in your eyes while wearing the lenses. After using the eye drops, wait about 15 minutes before putting lenses in your eyes.

Where can I keep my medicine (Cosopt™)?
Keep out of the reach of children.  Store at room temperature between 15—25 degrees C (59—77 degrees F). Protect from light. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
